Routine. Waking up to complete the basic drill – your morning coffee, office, finishing a day’s work. Repeat. Many of us are so entwined in the responsibilities of the routine, that we forget to feed the soul and its curiosity. Some days bring a few waking moments, that are spent in wondering how to break the monotony, that viciously circles our life. That is when we turn to the new, to the unknown, to the thrill.

It is rightly said that although money fills pockets, adventure fills your soul. Befitting this description lies a haven for all nature-lovers & thrill-seekers. Jharkhand. This unexplored locational paradise is a canvas of breathtakingly beautiful places blessed with canopies of picturesque flora, fauna and a pleasant climate.

First stop, we venture into the capital Ranchi, the City of Waterfalls, where the young and old alike can bask in scenic views & attractions even from altitudes of 2,140 feet! Famous attractions include the Rock Garden, Jagannath Temple, Sun Temple, Tagore Hill and Pahari Mandir, which is a hilltop temple dedicated to Lord Shankara and offers sweeping views of the countryside.

Abode to a number of religious sites, it has some of the most beautiful temples & sacred settings in India, such as the pious city of Deoghar, home to religious pilgrimages and panoramic views. Other religious spots include Baba Baidyanath Temple, Nandan Pahar, Trikuta Parvata, Naulakha Mandir, Basukinath Temple, Baiju Temple, Mayurakshi River, Deoghar Baba Dham.

However, Ranchi goes beyond just being a sight-seeing attraction as it also offers fuel to an adrenaline junkie’s soul through a variety of adventure sports. Scale new heights by rock-climbing on the 300 feet tall Tagore Hill, explore the road less travelled with trekking routes from Sikidri in Ramgarh to Dasam Falls near Ranchi or indulge in not one but multiple aero-sports like para-gliding, para-sailing, hang gliding & hilltop paragliding. The state rightfully boasts of majestic waterfalls like Dassam Falls, Hudru Falls, Jonha Falls, Hirni Falls to name a few, consequently offering a plethora of water sports. Indulge in river-rafting, scuba-diving, kayaking, canoeing, sailing, water-skiing & a wide array of water adventure sports options available at the Kanke Dam in Ranchi and in Girdih as well.  Girdih is also home to Jharkhand’s highest mountain, Parasnath, at 4490 feet. The climb to the state’s highest peak, offering pictorial vistas and mountainous thrill is an enamouring experience in itself.

And in case you aren’t feeling all that adventurous and yet want to float among the clouds, hot air ballooning can be the answer!

The abundance of flora and fauna is another reason it makes for a great trip. The state of Jharkhand is home to a number of famous national parks like Bhagwan Birsa Biological Park in Ranchi which has a zoo as well as a botanical park for plant lovers. Other famous wildlife attraction sites include the Betla National Park in the Latehar district, The Tata Steel Zoological Park in Jamshedpur, Jawaharlal Nehru Biological Park in Bokaro Steel City, Dalma Wildlife Sanctuary in Jamshedpur, The Wildlife Sanctuary, Canary Hill & Rajrappa Temple to name a few. The city of Hazaribaug, one of Jharkhand’s most scenic cities, serves as the icing on the cake.

After some soul-searching, if you are in the mood to get a little educational, Jamshedpur, which is also referred to as the ‘Pittsburgh of India’, is an illustrious industrial township with some of India’s finest educational institutes like XLRI, making it a stellar example of modern India.  Home to bodies of water like Jayanti Sarovar, Hudco Lake, Dimna Lake & a number of zoological and botanical parks Jamshedpur maintains the raw-beauty vibe that Jharkhand thrives on. For a sports enthusiast, a stop at Keenan Stadium & JRD TATA Sports Complex will simply leave you in awe.
