The Wavechaser and the Waterman
Now that you’ve had an introduction to the history and splendour of The Kalizma, it is only fair that you meet your guides on this ocean adventure. We searched high and low for people who had held a deep respect for the oceans, people who know the ins and outs of real travel and would do justice to the experiences The Kalizma has to offer. And perhaps most importantly, people who know how to let loose and have a good time. Finding people who check all of these boxes is no easy feat, but find them we did – meet Paloma Monnappaand Emanuel Abeyewardene.
Some of you may be familiar with Paloma‘s work as a Model and a DJ. She’s been the face of national advertising campaigns, hosted a travel show that aired on Discovery, and is one-half of Mumbai-based DJ duo Algorhythm. She’s half Coorgi, half Tibetan, and grew up in Mumbai; one could say that travel is in her blood. To top it all off, she’s a surfer who is no stranger to the endless pursuit of that next great wave. For Paloma is someone who looks to explore new frontiers, meet new people and push her horizons as far as they can go. It isn’t always the case with most people, but the promise of good food, great music and pleasant company is all Palomaneeds to be a happy camper.
Emanuel Abeyewardene is, in no uncertain terms, a son of the ocean. His deep and abiding love for the water is one of the first things you notice about this native Sri Lankan. In his professional life, he is a DJ, an event organizer and a hotelier. As a DJ and event organizer, Emanuel loves playing with genre and paradox, and his passion for music is what led him to found Luna Terrace, an infinity pool bar that has hosted a number of electronic musicians from across the world. His interests drive him to greater explorations of history, culture, ecology and spirituality. Emanuel is a firm believer in the mind-expanding qualities of travel and recommends it as the surest way to a more compassionate and accepting self.
